THE DEVIL LAUGHS AT YOU
SELF PORTRAIT
Reflection
I took this self portrait with a scanner, it was sort of experimenting with different mediums. when thinking of ideas for my self portrait, i realized nothing simple was really gonna portray a accurate reflection of myself, the reason i chose such a strange picture is to show every ounce of crazy in me that not everyone gets to see, its the rawest version of me, and also the part of my im proudest of.
HERCULES
Reflection
These images are based around my nephew Jose. When people first meet him they cant even tell he has any medical problems because hes so energetic, smart and a happy baby overall. Through these photos i wanted to show both sides of his life, there's a lot going on in the background that people don't usually see because they wouldn't expect it.
SHADOWS
Reflection
my still life with shadows piece did give me some trouble at first becasue i didn't know how to set up inanimate objects to look interesting in a shot, and although it was hard for me to focus on this project, i learned how to change my perspective when it comes to shooting a photo. this project helped me realize how important it can be for a picture to have a foreground and background and how much interesting a shot can be when you do include those things. the funnest part for me in this project was cutting out my stencil, which i would make the shadow with and the hardest thing, was figuring out how i was gonna use the shadow it created in my photo.
COMFORT
Reflection
i had a hard time coming up with an idea for the way music makes me feel or how i see it, but when i really thought about it i realized that music is a way of distraction, it makes you comfortable, it helps you either enjoy feeling or regret you ever had any. usually when music has impacted me the most is when im laying in bed and cant go to sleep, thats why in my pictures i decided to make the fore ground my bed, and above my bed is a banner with a logo belonging to a band im really fond of... the light streaks represent the music itself and the movement it makes depending on what genre you are listening to.
BABY, OH BABY
Reflection
my street photography piece revolves around the idea of babies whether they be your human ones or the furry ones, they show so much tenderness in any given situation. i tried to capture moments of serenity or pure love that feel warm, even if the pictures are in black and white the pictures radiate with real emotions, which i guess is kinda the idea behind street photography.

BLINDLY FOLLOW
Reflection
This photo illustration photo is supposed to describe my understanding of the world, my understanding of the world is that people seem to blindly follow trends or causes because the majority of people do. I feel like the world is made up of sheep being herded in the direction our Shepperd chooses to take us, even if we do not see were we are going we are content because we are being fed and taken care of and i think that's the main reason we follow blindly threw life, because we are to comfortable and we don't question and separate ourselves from the group. in our society many people are simply a copy of a copy of a copy and for some reason it doesn't bother anyone.
ARTIST INSPIRATION
Reflection
For my artist inspiration i chose to take a picture that was inspired by Diane Arbus, her work appeal to me becasue it was quirky but there was a certain beauty in the strange characters she shot pictures of because they were comfortable with her. so for my picture i chose to take shots of my best friend because for one i know she's comfortable with me and i also love the quirky faces she makes so i thought she would be the best person for me to take pictures of. for my shot i used natural light to illuminate her face and hair while the background is velvet and that allowed for her hair to show better than if it was just a normal black background.

Keith Carter Inspiration Piece
Refection
with this keith carter inspired picture i took the most interesting prop i could find and set it up in an interesting way so that it would not just look like a picture with a prop, i wanted to make it look like it belonged their even if it obviously did not. i decided to use film because well for one i had never used film before so it would be a new experience and it made my pictures resemble keith carters more.
Tell a Story with Light
Reflection
many times you cant really figure out whose there to help you and who wants to hurt you, putting your full trust in someone is dangerous every time, this is what i am trying to say in my story. i used the red and blue filters to give that feeling of danger but also of sadness and vulnerability. i tired my best to keep the pictures dark to keep the mood i was creating with the filters visible. i kept the angles different so there would be more of an affect of a story line.
